Supplies of MTBE in the US Gulf coast will undoubtedly become tighter in the early part of 2010 as the result of a plant turnaround by Huntsman who plans to shift its 260m gal/year (17,000 bbl/day) MTBE-producing unit into a turnaround in early January 2010. The plant is in Port Neches, Texas.The shutdown is expected to last through the first quarter.
