ICIS news: China has removed glycerine-based epichlorohydrin (ECH) from its list of products prohibited for processing trade effective 1 February, producers and traders said on Tuesday. The Ministry of Commerce (MoC) has removed 26 other products from the Catalogue Prohibited for Processing Trade, which was implemented in 2007 to manage China's trade surplus with other countries and to discourage energy-intensive and environmentally unfriendly industries. The catalogue, which took effect on 26 April 2007 currently has 1,789 items in its list. The propylene-route ECH, however, is still prohibited for processing trade. There is only one major glycerine-based ECH producer in China - Yang Nong Chemical. Other major Chinese ECH producers produce ECH from propylene.
