LG Chem, South Korea’s largest isopropanol (IPA) producer, has shut down its 55,000 tonne/year acetone-based line in Yeocheon for maintenance. "The line was shut on 1 February for one month," an official said. Poor demand from downstream paints and coatings sector may have prompted the shutdown of the unit. LG Chem's other IPA line in Yeocheon, which has 45,000 tonnes/year capacity and uses propylene as feedstock, currently operates at full capacity.
